exaltron is on the TV with Travolta and Oprah

So your poor little electronic musicborg was feeling a bit frivolous in buying a brand-new flat screen boob-tube over the long weekend. But when I came into work today I found an uncanny opportunity to rationalize that heedless consumerism: my statement from Pump Audio (now a subsidiary of Getty Images), the pimps that pump dat ho which is exaltron into TV-land, or in layman's terms, they make my music available to television producers who for a small fee can license a chunk of exaltron to funkify their programming.

The statements they send provide precious little information aside from song title, title of the show (often truncated) and the pittance they fork over to your favorite borg. Having been in this game a few innings, I've come to expect a healthy scoop of randomness every few months when I peruse these statements and 12/08 did not disappoint. Among the more interesting placements were:

The song Kalindra was picked up several times for a Travel Channel show called 1000 Places to See Before You Die (episode: India). This is probably the biggest source of pride for me of all the syncs as I don't generally play Indian music and barely dabble in the bamboo flute featured on this. In fact the only reason I did this piece was that I was asked by a different licensing shop to produce something on spec that sounded similar to an Indian fusion song by a known artist (who they apparently couldn't afford). They never got back to me, but the fact that it ended up getting used through a different shop for a show about India is vindication enough for me.

Oprah, who -based on her past use exaltron -is a huge fan, used a goodly chunk of Pocket Lint on an episode listed as "OPRAHJOHN TRAVOLTA AND", which I'm assuming was a segment with Vinny Barbarino and some other famous persona.
